What initially attracted me to Christy was her love for people, especially the teens she worked with at the center I met her through. And I cannot say enough about her credibility. I knew I could marry Matt while we were still friends, and I knew he was a great father from the first time I met him. Family traditions have long been a part of who we are and each season brings its own tradition and pastime.

Spring: Exploring nature in the woods and at parks! We don’t mind grabbing a butterfly net and jumping in a creek to catch crayfish and frogs (we let them go).

Our family is a huge part of our life. While our family situations were different growing up, they helped shape how we want to raise a family. Matt grew up with fond memories of exploring the woods for hours with his brother, playing basketball with his dad, and trips to Florida with his mom. Christy grew up following her big sister around the neighborhood, camping trips with her family, and large extended family gatherings for every holiday imaginable. We live in a nice, ranch-style home, built in the late 1940’s. It has been fully remodeled in the past five years and is in great shape. There is a finished basement with lots of rooms for children to play, and a good-sized fenced in backyard.

Our neighborhood is absolutely ideal to raise a family in. We have a diverse neighborhood and it is very kid-friendly. A good portion of the families around us have young children, so there are lots of other kids to play with nearby. We even know two families one street over who have or plan to adopt! Olivia is an amazing young woman. She is upbeat, energetic, and has a huge heart for loving and serving others. Quality time and acts of service are definitely her love languages! She has always had a passion for sports—softball is her favorite. However, she has also played basketball, done cheer over the years and has been in dance for 12 years. Olivia is very resilient and is able to push through life’s challenges. She is very respectful to her parents and teachers, and overall does very well in school.
